A LETTER TO MY COURSEMATES

TO MY CLASS,
BCOM B, 2016
You are my second family. I dint choose you, you dint choose me, but the four years we’ve been together has been worth every second.
It’s our final semester, we are all excited about finally being done with this 8-4-4 system, going into the world with high expectations of being the next big thing! Perfect! But……..but…..
This bit of what we will be taking out of here in the form of a paper-transcripts!! Mahn….! Let’s talk about this……
Some are already branded the “first classes”. Good for them and congratulations!!
Look at your transcripts you just received recently…are you happy about it?
Maybe you deserve the grades-you read adequately and extensively for the units and got the marks you deserved. Or you were just “unlucky”, you read but ”ukaonewa” or you read extensively but forgot almost everything on the exam day or you dint read but got “lucky” or maybe you paid for that grade or maybe you just did not “feel” that semester. Either way, the grades are already there and there’s nothing we can do about it.
You probably have mixed reactions about it or maybe you’ve already done your “reality check” and you’ve come to terms with your paper.
You feel like giving up, though you know you can’t. You easily could though. It’s just not an option. Not now.
The world is full of so many opportunities. Getting a first class does not guarantee us a good life. Though it is crucial to be educated, and you are! We all are.
In my group yesterday, we had a discussion about one interview set up where the interviewing panel stood to usher in the interviewee as their guest. What would you do? Your interviewers are all up and your chair is there, empty. Some would sit…others??I don’t know. But the one who finally got the job was the smartest thinker.
Life is a lesson itself. Sometimes we read very “fat” books in preparation for job hunting but then very simple things are tested. Besides, the in thing in the society is being self-employed. Sweethearts!!Go yee and employeth thyselves! And Like the common saying goes “A students work for C students and B students work for the government”
Our transcripts only reflect the grades we are “given” in academics and so it shouldn’t be the major determinant of our happiness here.if we all had transcripts in every aspect of life, then we would have A students in every field.
Just because we study commerce does not mean we are limited to it! It is just a paper we came for after all.
Look at crème de la crème, he was in a computer science class but look at where he is now! A renowned awesome deejay
Dj kaytrixx was an engineering student, look at him now
Nameless was an architecture student
Wahu was a mathematics student
Esther Arunga was a law student!
Ahaaaaa…..you feel me?
And so, to my class:
I have a dream. That in the near future we will be the in thing. From this class we’ll have great designers, great deejays, great news anchors, great accountants, great authors, great CFOs, great human resource managers, great marketers, great investment gurus, great motivational speakers, great chefs, great pastors…great everything!!!This is a class with no limits. I look forward to our motto as “this was that”
This life, this money, this achievement, was that belief we had in ourselves, it was that motivation, it was that teamwork!
In this class lies so much unexploited potential! Don’t under estimate your potential. Go yee and exploiteth thy potential. There’s so much power in you. We all know what we want and how to get there but problem is, we are waiting on for the right circumstances and right time. It is now, sweethearts!!Just do it. Everything else will fall into place. It’s allowed to make mistakes. But each should be a lesson, not a stopping point.
And for those who feel this was not the right course…c’mon…at least you met this power class.BCOM B, 2016!!Besides, you’ve learnt the basics of accounting…..plus the lessons from karanja and Mbaluka. And stories from Opok.
JAB made us family, we have become friends by choice!
