Flashback Thursday or is it throwback???
I don't know
Growing up, our kenyan parents had the same character when it comes to discipline and just parenting, generally.
A kenyan mom would hear a glass break and shout" toa izo zingine kwa kabati na uzivunje pia!!"
A kenyan mom beats you in pauses...like" nani..**slap**alikuambia**kick**ufanye**pinch**hivyo
a kenyan mom makes you believe a whooping with a red slipper was more painful than a whooping with a blue slipper.
A kenyan mom responded to your stomachache like"....si nilikuambia uvae sweta ukakataa"
Kenyan parents call you by all your official names when they are angry.
A kenyan dad beats the mercy out of you then tells you"sio wewe nimechapa, ni makosa yako"
A kenyan dad tells you how bright he used to be in school. The only time he wasn't number one he became second "hapo niligonjeka kidogo"
A kenyan mom beats you up for eating at a neighbour's but will insist on your friends eating at your place.
A kenyan mom will tell you it's okay to introduce your girlfriend/boyfriend to her then say" nikuone na yeye tena!...maliza masomo kwanza"
Kenyan parents will collaborate with school administration to inflict punishment on you when you are on the wrong.
A kenyan mother will make you believe some veggies are healthier the more they don't taste good.
Kenyan parents bought us oversized clothes and shoes claiming they're there to serve us as we grow.
Kenyan parents would insist on putting on matching clothes with our siblings whenever we went to public places.
The list is endless!
Kenyan parents will always be the best...
Parenting has revolutionised in this 21st century and only most 90s,80s and 70s babies will relate.
Incase you haven't talked to your parents/guardians this week. Make an effort by the end of the day...just remind them of the good old times and put a smile across their faces...
And if you are a parent...kudos!! You did a good job. These little things you did to us are held in special places in our hearts.
Have a lovely day y'all
